I've recently become interested in bonsai and after a little research found that Hawthorns are an ideal species. I found this sapling on my property and I am looking for tips on how (or if) I can turn it into a bonsai.

Will this take too long to develop given the size of the trunk? Should I prune any of the lower branches? Should I just leave it to grow for a while? Should I re-pot it in something else?

Any help would be much appreciated!
