Upstairs toilet causing mold/ damage?
Need some plumbing advice…
A few months ago, I noticed a small black stain on my garage ceiling directly below an upstairs bathroom. At first it was tiny, but now it’s grown larger and has what looks like a fuzzy or bubbled area around it. I’m assuming that’s mold and moisture damage.
I’ve also noticed that one of our toilets randomly runs from time to time, and the connection coming out of the wall where the supply hose attaches to the toilet seems to be angled downward or bent. Could this be the culprit, or am I looking in the wrong place?
To make things more interesting, I have a home warranty. Any tips on how to explain the issue to maximize coverage? My understanding is they’ll likely cover the plumbing repair but not the ceiling damage. Has anyone successfully navigated a similar claim?
Any plumbers or experienced homeowners willing to weigh in? I’d appreciate any thoughts before I call someone out.
And of course, this all happens right after I got a bonus at work. I was planning a vacation, but apparently my garage ceiling had other ideas. 😅
