Hi! I have had a very rough spring semester of my sophomore year and I wanted to know if I completely messed up my chances of getting into an MD school.
Stats:
- 3.8 cGPA as of now (AMCAS calculation is most likely ~3.7 due to me retaking a course)
- Haven’t taken the MCAT yet
- Research position; one poster and on track to begin a personal project
- Remote math tutor for underprivileged K12 students
- Lab TA
- Hospice volunteer
- Shadowed a few specialties (pediatrics, oncology, plastics).
Background:
- First-gen, Asian, FAP eligible
- My freshman spring I passed ochem with a C- and retook it the following semester where I earned a B.
- Withdrew from ochem 2 this semester.
- This semester I also may end with 2 B-, both in sciences (physics and upper level bio). Both plummeting my GPA.
I do have a plan to adjust some things to ensure that I can achieve a 4.0 in my remaining two semesters before I apply for the next cycle.
Regardless, I am very worried since my performance has dipped this semester and would greatly appreciate any advice!
