Detained at Sig Academy during background check
I just had an awful experience at my local Sig Sauer Academy today. I’m a first time buyer and the process was going smooth. I paid for it, filled out the form, then was informed I had to wait for my NICS background check to go through. While I’m waiting, I browse the various optics and gadgets they have for sale. That’s when two officers of the local PD stroll in and start having a conversation with one of the salesman at the counter. I didn’t think anything of it, but then the salesman calls me over and tells me to follow him to the corner of the store.
That’s when the two officers corner me and tell me I’m being detained for a warrant. Internally I’m freaking the fuck out, as I have 0 idea what they’re talking about. I’m escorted out of the store to their patrol car and hand over my ID. After about 10 minutes, they start asking me questions and eventually determine that I’m free to go somehow. They didn’t give me many details on why or how this happened, but they escorted me back inside to let the salesman know I’m good to go and finish the process. Unsurprisingly, my background check was then put on “delayed” status.
Has anybody seen this happen or have it happened to them? I wasn’t able to get much out of the officers on how this whole situation happened in the first place. I now have extremely low hopes that my background check will go through.
