Next Sporting Clays Gun
Hey everyone,
I’m in the market for my next dedicated sporting clays gun and I’ve narrowed it down to three options.
My absolute top priorities are:
1 Perfect balance right on the hinge pin.
2 Rock-solid reliability.
I have a few pros and cons for each based on my research and limited handling, but I’d love to get some real-world feedback from anyone who owns, shoots, or has extensively trialed these platforms.
- Perazzi MR57
Pros: Can get it with a true custom stock setup, which is a massive plus for a perfect fit.
Cons: I'm a bit unsure about the ergonomics/position of the barrel selector switch. I also haven't had the chance to live-fire this specific model yet. - Beretta SL2
Pros: The out-of-the-box balance is phenomenal—right on the hinge pin. It easily feels like it has the best barrel tech/geometry among the three options.
Cons: It's a premium premium gun, but Beretta's recent QC reputation gives me a little bit of anxiety at this price point. - Krieghoff K-80 Parcours X
Pros: Gorgeous engraving options and that legendary Krieghoff 10-year warranty/service backup.
Cons: In the hands, it feels just a little bit front-heavy to me. Also, I’ve never owned or competed with a K-80 platform before, so it would be a total shift.
A few specific questions for the group:
For those who shoot the MR57, how’s the felt recoil compares to a HT?
For SL2 owners, has the fit, finish, and reliability lived up to the premium price tag, or are the Beretta QC rumors a valid concern here?
For the Parcours X crowd, did you find it front-heavy at first? If so, did you fix it with stock weights/barrel weights, or did you just adapt to the swing?
Given my focus on hinge-pin balance and long-term reliability, which way would you lean? Thanks in advance!
