Anyone Deal With HR Delays on STEM OPT While Facing an EAD Deadline?
My Post-Completion OPT EAD expires in about a month. I've already asked my employer's HR team to complete and sign the STEM OPT training plan so I can submit my extension application before my current EAD expires. I've reminded them several times that I need the signed form before the expiration date because I must first send it to my school for approval, receive my updated I-20(which takes 7 business days), and then submit my STEM OPT application to USCIS.
Part of me wonders if they're not treating it as urgent because I mentioned the 180-day automatic extension. However, that extension only applies if I properly file my STEM OPT application before my current EAD expires. I've tried to make that clear, but I'm still waiting on the completed paperwork.
At this point, I'm not sure what else to do. Should I continue following up more aggressively and stress the urgency, or is there a better approach? Any advice would be appreciated.
