As a musician myself i come across various struggles regarding finding people, industries and how the world sees us. I have been thinking about an idea for a new platform for artists, musicians, and creatives. The goal is to make it easier to connect, collaborate, and find opportunities WITHOUT the usual noise and all kinds of distractions that social media.
Before taking this any further, I want to understand if more people are actually struggling with right now and how. I would really appreciate honest input from anyone working in a creative field.
Here are a few questions that would help a lot:
What do you feel is missing from platforms like Instagram or Spotify when it comes to connecting and collaborating with others?
How do you currently find people to work with? Do you actively search, rely on your network, or use specific platforms?
How long does it usually take you to find someone nearby to collaborate with? And how often do you need to search manually?
Where do you usually look for opportunities such as gigs, exhibitions, or venues?
When someone visits your profile online, what is the one thing you wish they could see immediately that most platforms do not show (well)?
Would you use a platform that is focused only on creatives, where you can connect with people based on location, without unrelated content, unrelevant people and algorithm-driven clutter? Why or why not?
If you could design the ideal platform for creatives from scratch, what is one feature it absolutely needs?
I m sure there are more concerns incl. personal data, privacy that went out the window etc, but for a start these are more than enough to get a good sign.
The general idea I have in mind includes things like being able to discover artists near you, having simple and user-friendly profiles with portfolios and services, and finding venues or collaboration opportunities in one place. But I am still at a very early stage and trying to understand whether this actually solves a real problem.
Any thoughts, even short ones, would be really helpful:)
