ADVICE: temporomandibular disorders

Experts, has this issue ever been treated or will i go insane.

Ive had a TMD for around a year now and am sick of it. I can open mouth but am limited by my right TMJ, it wont open past 2inch however my left TMJ is able to. When i open my jaw, the right TMJ moves outward before my left opens normally, I hear clicking, and it slightly shifts to the right.

I can actually shift my jaw into proper position. By adding pressure to the inside of my left mandible while opening, it feels in a more natural place. However this comes with more distinctive clicking/ crunching noises, and way more pain.

My jaw exits the normal position when i close my mouth fully, there is a little shifts forward when this happens. Ive done multiple forms of resistance exercises consistently, nothing helps.

I account this to my orthodontist. I believe the retainer i was given was too thick, causing my jaw to shift back when biting down during sleep.

What should i do
