To timeline attached. Want to send wife+6yo kid to enjoy "winter Japan". What month to avoid crowd?
Hello. FIRE here. But still busy with some supervising projects myself. We have been in Japan (summer) before. So we know some basics HowTo. Plus, our kid is super chill to travel by planes\busses\trains (so, "complicated" travel paths is okay).
QUESTION\TOPIC. Im busy, but i want to send my wife and kid to enjoy "WINTER FAIRYTAIL" type of Japan. My wife can ski. My kid - never seen snow.
I was thinking to send them to....erm Sapporo? To enjoy _some_ ski, but i assume the kid still will be more keen towards ice slope tracks with tubbing's, snowmans and other snow-for-KIDS-oriented activities.
HOWEVER, we are pretty free on time (doesn't matter which dates. Before or after New Year) and on the budget. But, what we (they) want to avoid at all costs, is CROWDS.
AI (be damned) advice to go "December to January to avoid traffic" but nothing too specific. I will appreciate if someone can give a more open breakdown on the "dates with no huge crowds" topic.
PLUS. Since we (they) are not aiming to the hardcore SKI\SNOWBOARD specifically. And just want "real snow winter" magic....Does it make sense for me to send them to Sapporo, or am i barking on the wrong tree...OR should aim for some other parts of Japan for kids-family-snow activities for 1 full week (maybe 10 days).
PS. We dont mind to "miss" actual snow festivals. More snow - less people approach.
Also, we dont want\need to be\hangout in Tokyo\Osaka aside from the day of passing throth it. Thoughts?
