Hi all, I have my heart set on a pair of Betta persephone at the fish store I work at, is there anything I am missing in their tank? It will be at least another month until I am able to bring them home, so I have plenty of time to make changes.
I am already planning to add a bunch of sticks and twigs in the foreground of the tank, as well as some small leaves/pieces of almond leaves to add more botanicals.
As for food, I am planning on starting a couple of vinegar eel cultures and a scud tank I can draw live food from. Does anyone who has kept them know if they take frozen food as well? I can also get live black worms and BBS from work if necessary.
And will any special changes need to be made to trigger breeding? I would love to be able to distribute them in the trade. I have experience raising fry (rainbowfish, not Bettas) so I would love to branch out a bit.
Oh, and it is a 5.5 gal (20l), with a sponge filter, and a heater if you guys say it's necessary. Tank mates will be my neocaridina culls, ramshorn and trumpet snails, and any scuds that survive feeding time lol. There is plenty of room to hide around the back of the wood, and soon there will be even more with the botanicals.
Thanks!!
