Please tell me it gets better
I’ve seen many similar posts to this but I have reached the point where I need to write my own, even if it’s just to get it all out in writing!
We have a 4.5 month old labradoodle that we brought home at 8 weeks old. Generally speaking he is quite good during the day - he is able to settle and nap in the same room as us while we do other things, and is very sociable and curious. He knows the basic commands as well when there are limited distractions (work in progress) and generally is very sweet.
Night time is a totally different story. As soon as 8.30pm hits it’s full shark mode for around 3 hours - nothing we can do settles him down. There has been massive regression with the crate - we still do fun crate games and feed in there, but any time we put him in at night it’s non stop barking. A lot of the early advice I read said not to let them bark for more than 10-15 minutes as it could cause distress, but it really feels like it has just reinforced the idea that he will eventually get out if he barks, which is now annoying our neighbours at night.
I spend the day absolutely dreading night time now and it’s really impacted my sleep. I know he is teething and still young, but any advice or reassurance is welcomed!!
