abnormal pap results - anyone?
Hi, 28F and super terrified.
I'm someone who is always very alert on my health and am on top of my annual exams too.
For reference, I've had annual Pap smears since 2021 (as far as I can remember), and results were always normal. I've never had any STIs, nor have I ever tested positive for hpv.
I completed all doses of the Gardasil9 early 2023 or so.
My last normal pap was Feb 2025, and recently, early May 2026, I got my annual pap again.
The results came back last Friday, and for the first time in my life it showed abnormality, specifically HSIL. However, negative for all 14 high-risk hpv.
I am sexually active but monogamous.. and I started dating someone new September 2025.
My ob-gyn was also surprised with the results too, and said the possibilities are: false negative hpv/ transient or cleared up hpv infection/ overread pap.
Has anyone experienced this before? I'm scheduled for a colposcopy next week but really am freaking out. I've been reading this thread so much and I get that ASCUS and LSIL might show up, but HSIL feels like another level.
