The NZ road code says
"if there is a raised traffic island in the middle of the [pedestrian] crossing, stop and give way to pedestrians on your half of the road"
This crossing has a raised road and a refuge in the middle, but does this refuge classify as a "raised"?
If the picture isn't clear, the crossing is a 'speed bump' and the central refuge is level with the raised road.
Should a driver stop for a pedestrian on the other side?
