I purchased a 160GB “Working” iPod Classic via eBay. It wasn't cheap, considering there were import costs involved. I received it today, but I think it's a nightmare…
It was supposed to be a mod project, so I expected that if I had to replace the cover, clickwheel, battery, and hard drive, that would fine. But unfortunately, the iPod is only recognized by iTunes in DFU mode, and the forward and play/pause buttons don't work. I tested them in test mode, you can hear them, but they aren't registered…
The seller says
The device was tested and working prior to shipping. But you're not going to tell me those buttons worked back then? You can replace a clickwheel, but the buttons are on the logic board, so they are already hardware problems…
What should I do? Does anyone here have experience with this?
