Is cardiology the ortho of physician specialties?
Heard it a few times as a med student on placement and was curious as to why.
Is the reputation for cardio and ortho similar? Not sure…

Currently a marshmellow interested in pursuing competitive surgical subspec, but I am truly bewildered at how "successful" PHOs/unaccreds are typically at work earlier and leave later than their colleagues, all while being an exemplar candidate for SET with numerous presentations, publications, courses, interview prep, volunteering...
What does your typical day look like as a surg PHO before you got on, and how much time did you allocate to "work" after work lol.
Hey all, currently a final year medical student. I just wanted to get the opinions of those who are either:
- on surgical subspecialty SET training currently
- consultant surgeons
- Ex-surgical un-accredited registrars who are now in GP.
If you guys had your time again and were currently final year medical students interested in surgery (other than gen surg), would you still give it a go and go through the unaccredited slog again, or go into something with better work-life balance and earlier income? Would love to know which one and why.
thanks
