Can a parent stop British citizen children returning to their home in Wales after a visit abroad?
I’m 17 and all of my siblings, my dad and I are British citizens. We normally live in the UK and attend school there. We were in Syria visiting family and had flights booked back to the UK.
My parents were already not on good terms and my dad was already in Syria before my mum, me, and my siblings went since he was there before for work purposes. My mum also wanted to stay in Syria and not go back and she had agreed that me and my siblings could return to the UK with my dad and had no issue with it while the flights were being booked. Then, the day before the flight, she changed her mind and said we were not allowed to go. (She said this was to get back at my dad which is just childish asf since she lied to me and my siblings too)
All of us wanted to return to the UK because that is where we live and go to school. My mum said she would not let us leave like at all and there was nothing we could do to change her mind.
My dad came over to try to deal with the situation. Things got heated and there was an argument. During the argument, my dad hit my mum. A report was made afterwards towards my dad but despite that, my dad still ended up leaving for the UK alone.
I am not sure what my dad's legal situation is now or whether he would be able to come back to Syria since a report was filed towards him.
At this point, me and my siblings are still in Syria even though our home, school and daily lives are in the UK, and school had already started.
Does anyone know what options there are in a situation like this, especially when the children are British citizens and normally live in the UK?
