Came so close

Got a rejection call today. Was told I was an amazing candidate, but they went with someone with x years of experience. The hiring manager was great and tried to vouch for me to their boss, but taking the candidate with more experience obviously made more sense. I can’t even be mad.

I guess I just wanted to get on here to say I’m a little upset about it. I know that rejection is common and normal (I’ve been rejected from LOTS of other jobs), but this one hit harder because I knew I was so close. I got complimented for my interview skills and was told I had an impressive resume which made me feel better, but I still don’t have work.

(For anyone reading and wondering, I’m a recent grad with a few years of B2B experience). I know I have what it takes, but how can I compete with people who already got someone else to take a chance on them first? It just really sucks because I’m eager to make money and quit my college job.
