Disability Allowance

Hi all,

My partner and I (both 24) are saving for a house at the moment. We are first time buyers with no option for gifts or anything from family.

My income is 40k PA, his income is about 27k PA split between disability allowance and part time work. There is no option for me to do any additional hours as I'm on a fixed salary.

I have some loans reducing our borrowing capacity, but all in all we are able to demonstrate repayment ability of 2.3k per month.

The problem is, with both of our incomes (including disability) we should be able to get about €265k, which is already really, really low in the current market. I struggled to come to terms with this as is.

I contacted PTSB to begin the application for approval in principle. I was advised that PTSB accept disability as income by AskPaul, however, the person on the phone doing the consultation told me that they dont and the max they could give me was 205k. What's worse is I know we are more than capable of making whatever repayments, its just getting the mortgage in the first place.

I know im not the only one in a bad situation, but I feel absolutely sick at the thoughts of how difficult things are going to be for us.

Anyway, basically I am looking to see if there are any other lenders who would look at disability allowance as income, because our already small budget has shrunk again. All im looking for is a little cottage or bungalow in the middle of nowhere and I dont even think we'll get that.

Apologies for the rant, but any advice is appreciated.

Any recs for late bars or clubs with 2000s cheesy music kinda vibe?

My friends and I always end up in the same place and were looking for something different.

I looove psychological horror/thriller/dystopian/books that feel like a gut punch but its all starting to get to me at the moment. Recently ive read

13 ways of looking at a fat girl

I have no mouth and I must scream (the short story)

A handmaid's tail

The testaments

Boy parts

A little life

1984

Starve acre

And loved the storylines and the writing style.

I find it hard to get into lighthearted books or anything too happy because I can never take it seriously, but im finding that the level of misery that im reading is really affecting my mental health.

May be a long shot but is there anything out there thats *not* miserable but also isnt overly happy go lucky or trying to be funny?

Im not a big fan of fantasy, sci-fi, or Romance personally but willing to give something like that a go as Im very much a mood reader.

Thanks :)
