1099 tax trouble - real estate
I have not filed or paid my taxes for 2024 or 2025. Background: i've worked as an assistant to a real estate brokerage and realize i've been far taken advantage of. I'm in my early 20's and I make less than $25K per year, working a full-time 9-5 for them, driving to all of the team's listings (they average 60 listings at a time) and put around 50K miles on my vehicle driving for work every year. Between all of my bills/hardships, I just honestly haven't been able to set aside what's needed for taxes. She tells me to write everything off as a business expense, but I don't even feel comfortable spending the money when I hardly make a living. She had me setup an LLC and I have not ever paid quarterly, so each time tax season rolls around, I struggle and know I have the penalties to pay. I've never been taught the right way to do things, and I've spoken with tax professionals to try & help me understand everything...but haven't met a trustworthy person yet who will honestly explain to me what I need to do. Is an LLC even worth it for this? I should have easily been on a W-2 from the start, so I know my boss is reaping the tax benefits by having me on a 1099. I WANT to do things the right way, so I'd appreciate some honest feedback and help with this. I'm actively searching for a tax professional who can help me set myself up for success when dealing with taxes. TIA!
