Ever encouraged a student to choose another tutor?
Hi there, I have been an English Tutor on Preply for almost a year. I have a young adult professional B2-level student who originally subscribed for once a week lessons. Over several months, I think he was too busy to keep coming every week and started to skip lessons fairly often. Which is fine with me, it's about the student, not me. Then he decided to take a break for the summer, but I suspect maybe wants to stop lessons with me. I'm his mom's age - to me that may be an issue that he'd like a younger tutor to speak with as most of the lessons are conversational. At this point he has 3 lessons in his account but zero scheduled with me. I reached out to see if he wanted to get on the schedule. I know he saw the message but has not replied. I am tempted to let him know it is totally fine with me if he wants to change tutors. I could even explain that he can transfer his subscription to another tutor if that's a concern. He was such a polite young man that I wonder if he just doesn't want to offend me by telling me he's not going to schedule anymore lessons. Has anything similar ever happened to anyone? I don't mind him canceling because he never schedules and my rate is higher now anyway so new students are preferred. It's like he's just hanging out there on my roster. Of course, now that I posted this, he will probably schedule...Thanks in advance.
