Trolling Motor Suggestion (Shaft Length)

New to boating and have a Tracker 1236 Aluminum Jon Boat (12' ft). It will be used in brackish Tidal Creeks fishing. Would like to purchase a transom trolling motor that will be my main source of propulsion. Plan is to learn the water ways before getting gasoline outboard. Would like to be able to flip it to a bow mount in future when I get the other engine. Water depth is shallow in these creeks - from 10 ft being the deepest to less than 1 ft shallowest.

Battery will be a 100 AH Lithium battery. Boat: Tracker 1236. Approx.. 16 inches from top to transom to bottom of boat. Would a 30 or 36" shaft be best? The creeks are part of larger waterway so there is some boat traffic that could cause wakes.

I have narrowed it down to. IF the 30" would be sufficient, i'd like to go with the #1 below.

  1. Newport NV-Series Trolling Motor - 12V - 55-lb - 30" Shaft ($240)

  2. Newport NV-Series Trolling Motor - 12V - 62-lb - 36" Shaft ($300)

  3. Minn Kota Riptide Trolling Motor - 12V 45-lbs - 36" Shaft ($400)
