First time father looking for advice, where do I start?

I recently became a father and want to change my lifestyle not only for myself, but to instil good habits for my kids. Up until I was around 25 I could eat and drink what I liked and stayed super lean as I played soccer almost every day. Since stopping I have flirted with gym memberships and road running, but never really stuck with it as I just wasn't enjoying it as much as I enjoyed playing sports. 9 years on I need to turn things around and I was just looking for any advice to keep me motivated and allow it to become a routine part of the rest of my life. What sort of routine/s would you suggest for someone like me (M/34/5'9/196lbs) who wants to firstly lose up to 41lbs and then maintain 155lbs from there on out. Any nutrition advice is welcome too. I am willing to try anything regarding exercise so I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.
