Feedback on fish at the ugly stage
I recently got a 24-pencil tin of oil-based coloured pencils and I’ve been enjoying figuring out how to layer them and build a process that works for me.
I’m generally a fan of bold contours, but I also want some of the fin edges to read softer and more wispy/translucent. Advice on process, layering, colour choices, or anything that looks off would be appreciated.
My current approach is to get the big 2D shapes/proportions down first and then develop the 3D form through value, planes, and rendering, so feedback on whether that’s reading well would also be useful.
BTW, I’m not too concerned with making my piece a one-to-one copy.
Thank you!
