Watch The Wild Dreamers / Director’s Commentary. I made my first indie feature with my sons - sharing this for filmmakers trying to make their own film

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my indie feature film, The Wild Dreamers, with other filmmakers here who are trying to make their own films.

I wrote, directed, and photographed the film myself, and I made it with my sons. For me, the biggest lesson was tenacity. Not waiting for permission. Not waiting for perfect conditions. Just committing to the story and finding a way to finish it.

The film is a quiet story about childhood, imagination, loss, and the bond between two brothers. It came from a very personal place, and making it with my sons gave the whole process a deeper meaning for me.

I know how hard it is to get a film made — especially when you’re doing it independently, with limited resources, while balancing work, family, and life. So I’m sharing this not just to promote the film, but to encourage anyone here who has a story they keep putting off.

You don’t need everything figured out. You need a reason to keep going. Would love to hear from other filmmakers who have made personal films with family, or who are trying to get their first feature made.
