I want to convince my mom (58) to go to the doctor for her asthma HELP!!
So, my mom has had asthma ever since I could remember. I have vague memories when I was little of having an inhaler in our home and it was my mom's. I'm 24 now and my mom is 58 and I can't remember the last time she used an inhaler. Her asthma always kicks in when she's exposed to dust or smoke and she has trouble breathing for more than a day after, and by that I mean she can't breath properly for the whole day (the longest time she had trouble breathing was 3 days)
She REFUSES to get an inhaler or get her asthma checked out by a doctor. According to her, inhalers only makes her breathing worse if she uses one when her asthma kicks in. I've tried to convince her for YEARS to go to a doctor, trying to tell her that if she told a doctor her symptoms and how inhalers doesn't work and only make her feel worse, that the doctor will find a way to give her alternative treatment that could work for her. She's extremely stubborn about going to the doctor about it (we're filipino so she's a filipino mom btw and filipino moms are notorious for refusing to go to the hospital)
Recently, I've noticed that her asthma attacks are getting more and more frequent but she refuses to listen to me about going to the doctor. I don't know what other arguments I can give to finally convince her to go to a doctor since I don't know much about asthma myself. I've tried doing some research but medical stuff are so different depending on the person.
Any advice on how I can convince her to go to a doctor???
PS. English is not my first language so please bare with me.
