Restarting the search, any brands to consider that are usually overlooked?
About five years ago my partner and I purchased a queen helix dusk luxe. For the first few years it was decent, but over the last few years we have each started to deal with problems around back or neck pain. While I don’t believe the mattress to be the root cause of these problems, I don’t think it’s helping.
I’m a 70/30 back to side sleeper, and my partner is about 50/50. We both agree that the “luxe” topper isn’t really working for us, it feels like it sinks in, and you don’t get the other supportive aspects of the mattress. I’d say it makes the bed just an inch or two too tall as well. I’m not totally opposed to a top layer like this, but maybe not this one.
As I’ve been restarting our search to get a new mattress, I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed with where to start looking, outside of the more heavily advertised brands. I was hoping some folks here might have some suggestions on how best to search in 2026.
We’re both around 6ft, 180-200ish lbs, aspire to sleep on our backs but one of us ends up side sleeping often, don’t want something that gets too warm, and have both been dealing with some chronic back and cervical issues, and are limited to a queen for now.
Any suggestions are welcome!
