How safe is the Benicia Hall bike compound before 8:00 AM? (Got an early exam)

Hey everyone,

I have an early morning exam coming up at Sac State and I'm trying to figure out my commute. I want to bike to campus to save time, but I've heard mixed things about bike security and campus police response times here, so I'm pretty paranoid about theft.

I know the Benicia Hall bike compound is staffed by CSOs starting at 8:00 AM, but my exam requires me to lock up and be on campus before that 8:00 AM window.

For those who arrive early: how safe is the compound when it's just on the OneCard/student ID swipe access? Is tailgating a big issue that early in the morning, or does the card-locked gate do a good job of keeping people out?

Plan is to lock it inside the compound with a heavy-duty U-lock, but I just want some peace of mind so I'm not stressing about my bike being gone while trying to focus on my exam.

Appreciate any insight or advice from early birds!
