First timer: 5 mm stone "stuck" UVJ - Tips needed / Logbook

Hi, first of all sorry for my English (not my language) and sincerely sending compassion to everyone suffering in this community..we are all in the same boat. A little background: I'm a 36yo (mostly) healthy M from Italy:

  • January 2026: during an abdomen ultrasound (requested for IBS check-up) everything was perfect but the doctor found incidentally a 5-mm stone in my right kidney. It was absolutely asymptomatic and he assured me that it could stay this way virtually for long time/ for ever (last famous words lol)
  • July 26th 2026 (16 days ago): I woke up with a pain that I have never felt, it was "new" to my body, right-side back pain, I would say 7-8/10 so I went to the ER, they ran blood tests (perfect) and an abdomen ultrasound, as they "suspected" a kidney stone. Ultrasound didn't show the stone, but only that the right kidney opening was "slightly enlarged", so they told me that I had passed something but they didn't want me to do a CT scan because I was responding well to pain meds (Tramadol, a strong oppiaceous) and basically sent me home recommending to increase water intake
  • August 8th (4 days ago): During these 2 weeks I was mostly ok, at the point that I could play a volley tournament, and do my gym workout basically with no issues, maybe some discomfort here and there, that I attrubuted to some sort if residual "inflamattion". At August 8th, after a dinner, I started felt a new symptom, some burning pains between bladder and urethra, very wavy, and very short, maybe one every 5 minutes, I didn't need to go to the ER. In the next 3 days it repeated (mostly at morning), and then subsided.
  • August 12th 2026 (today): Yesterday I thought that the burning could be an UTI, so today at morning I collected a sample and brought to Lab. Than, the perfect storm, the waterfall lol: I was driving back home and I started feeling the familiar (2 weeks ago) right side pain, but in 10 minutes it was 5x worse than then, so I drove to the ER immediately (I know, I would have avoided to drive). They admitted me immediately and gave me an in-vein Toradol, but surprisely his effect was not so strong, and in maybe 30minutes I was in agony again, it was a 11/10 pain, the last kidney colic 2 weeks ago seemed like a joke in comparison. They gave me an IV paracetamol but basically I had to ride it out in agony for maybe 2 hours before feeling some relief. I advocated myself to have a CT scan, they ran it and immediately in one minute they found the 5-mm stone in my right ureter, in the last part, in the "distal intramural ureter", If I understand correctly it should be the UVJ that I read about in the last days in this sub, the last, narrowest bottleneck of the ureter before the bladder. They said that it was "too late" for ESWL and I have to try to pass it, saying that ther is a good chance I will pass it, so they gave me Antibiotic + Tamsulosin (FloMax altough in Italy it has a different name) + Toradol (if needed in case of a new renal colic). They told me to drink 2 liters daily (I think it's quite few, I drank maybe 3,5 liters daily in the last 2 weeks).

Now I am at home, basically feeling good, I will start the "therapy" of Flomax today. I just need some support and I was looking for some tips:
- in your opinion how realistic is that I can pass a 5 mm at this point? And how long can expect it to take to realistically pass it?
- besides taking Flomax religiously, what can I do now: I was reading about jumping, do this really work?

- Will I have really to drink "only" 2 liters daily or will I need to "bomb" myself with 3,5+ liters daily?

Thank you everyone for the support, I will update this post in hope to help someone in the same boat. Sending love to you all.

TLDR: I have a 5mm stone, after 20 days it's at UVJ, docs say I have to try to pass it
