It has taken a month of almost daily work, but I have finally unraveled my house system. The original promise of a simple-to-install controller of LIFX lights has been restored.

Release 6 has just been launched.

The repo includes all the code including many non-LIFX things (I enjoy the maritime and aircraft mapping) but running the installer only enables two kinds of systems:

  1. A stand alone system that runs effects from the CLI. It is possible that support for Windows is now provided in addition to Linux and Mac. No scheduler is provided here, so when you exit the effect, the effect stops.
  2. A single Linux server based system. Effects run from the server independent of your computer. Scheduling and a dashboard is provided. Running GlowUp from your computer reaches out to the server for actual execution.

Future installers will enable more as I get time to implement safe installation.

New in this release is full support for LIFX grid projects like LUNA and the 15" Ceiling Light.

Enjoy!

As before, if you enjoy this work, please consider a donation to your local food pantry. Even a can of soup helps somebody.

I am still writing installers and won't make a new public release until I have unraveled all of my own house automation from LIFX support. I am making good progress and hope to make a new release soon.

The good people at LIFX sent me this SuperColor 15" ceiling light. I wrote or adapted a bunch of effects. These can work on the LUNA too.

The iPhone really doesn't do a good job with bright saturated color. Or unsaturated color for that matter. The light and the effects look better in person.

Thank you to LIFX for sending the product. Happy to support other products if your want to send more my way :)
