Hi guys, new to UGC and trying to understand how people actually get their first paid deal.

Did having a portfolio/media kit actually help you get clients, or did you mostly grow through outreach/content first? Like, how does one get clients without an existing project? Do I just post random things in my room?

I study design, so aesthetics/branding could be my strong point, but honestly, I have no idea if brands even care about that at the start.

It feels overwhelming because everyone says different things.
