Why are doctors pushing gastric sleeve surgery over GLP1s when people are losing over 100lbs on them?

My primary care doctor will not stop bringing up getting a gastric sleeve. I need to lose about 120 pounds and I just got on a tirzepatide protocol around six weeks ago. Since I started, I have been looking into what actually happens when people run these compounds.

The crazy thing to me is how fast medical professionals push you to get cut open. They completely brush off GLP-1s, saying the side effects are too bad or that you only lose maybe 10 to 15 percent of your total weight.

Then I look at the peptide communities on here and it is a completely different story. There are endless posts of people losing 90, 120, or even 160 pounds just by sourcing their own stuff and sticking to it. No surgery required. Why do doctors act like these compounds do not work when the proof is everywhere?

Genuinely curious if people start feeling old at 30 or if it is just a Reddit thing. Do you really need PEDs to feel normal at this age?

I am 6'5 and 202 pounds in my 30s, and I am completely natural with no PEDs. I keep seeing posts where guys act like their bodies are totally falling apart once they hit 30. I work night shifts on my feet all night, do daily calisthenics, walk 20k steps a day, and I have never had any back pain or training injuries. I actually feel way stronger and more athletic now than I did in my 20s. It makes me wonder if the guys complaining on here are just totally out of shape, or if everyone who feels good is just secretly running cycles. I feel amazing right now, so I am curious if people really start feeling old this early or if fitness subs just make it seem like you need to get on gear to survive your 30s.

I took my first dose of Reta three days ago and I am trying to figure out the normal timeline for feeling the effects. I read a few older threads where people said their appetite vanished within hours, but I woke up today feeling completely regular and still want to eat my normal meals. I started at the standard base amount, so I know it might need some time to build up in my system before anything major happens. Do you usually feel a change by the end of the first week, or does it normally take a few weeks before you notice a real difference in your hunger levels?
