Malta Public Transport and Cyprus Public Transport are operated by companies within the same group, and even their branding is extremely similar.
I think this sometimes shows in Malta’s bus choices. Our roads have very specific needs, so why not consider something designed specifically for Malta?
A custom 9 to 10 metre double decker could work well in busy areas like St Julian’s. It could potentially offer similar capacity to a full 18 metre articulated bus, while the driver would still be handling a vehicle roughly the length of a Vectio C.
Cities like Rome use articulated buses to deal with high passenger demand, but Malta’s previous experience showed that their length can be a problem on our tighter roads.
A short double decker could give us the extra capacity without needing an 18 metre bus.
