AI Use Cases - Please don't say notetaking

Hi all,

How are you using AI? How have you heard of others using AI? What is actually making a difference in your practice?

For background, I'm an independent at Osaic. I am relatively tech-savvy; I have used AI to create/complete some pretty incredible things outside of my professional work. I am struggling mightily to find real use cases as it pertains to my practice.

Automated notetaker, lead list generator, email editor, calendar automation, CRM data entry; Sure, those are all neat and save some time, but they are not exactly practice-altering advances. I understand that our regulatory overhang naturally limits the accessibility/usefulness of this technology, but I strongly feel there are more use cases out there than I currently know of.

Thanks.

Model Portfolios for Taxable Accounts?

Hi all,

I recently moved all of my qualified accounts to custom model portfolios. Ten different models, same holdings, different allocations (100%/0%, 90%/10%, 80%/20% etc.) I'm managing it through Envestnet and couldn't be happier with the simplicity and time savings.

I keep reading/hearing about model portfolios for taxable accounts. I don't understand how people are utilizing this. Most of my clients have accounts that are 20+ years old.  Absolutely massive unrealized gains built in - impossible to transition.

The approach of the "tax-sensitive" third-party managed models is generally just to realize the gains over a few years…

I guess I can see how models might be used for brand-new taxable accounts, but even then, you lose precise control over tax-loss harvesting.

How are people out there doing this?! What am I missing?

Open Squash FIDI NYC - Advice Needed

Hi all,

I'm interested in joining Open Squash at the FIDI location in NYC. I have a few questions.

Some background: I am a 28M. I'm in great shape and was a college athlete. I'm good at platform tennis and pickleball, solid in tennis. I played a bit of casual squash in college, and am now looking to take it more seriously and play consistently. Based on the US Squash rating criteria, I'd guess I'm around a 3.0/3.5 rating.

Questions for the general squash community:

Are lessons worth it to begin with? I just want to get out there and play - I'm not necessarily too caught up on increasing my rating at this point.

What is a good racket for me to buy?

Are protective glasses generally recommended? I've only taken one shot to the eye in all my squash matches - that hurt like hell, but I think it was more unlucky than a common occurrence?

Questions specific to Open Squash NYC:

How is the experience? Worth it? Too crowded? Facilities nice?

I don't know anyone who belongs here. Will it be easy to play with strangers? Is there some sort of intramural system?

Will I struggle finding people to play with at my rating? I've read that many members are former college players.

Any other advice or opinions are welcome! Thank you!

Looking for a specific Villager Add-On

Hi all,

I'm looking for a bedrock add-on that removes the monotony of lectern placing/destroying to get the desired enchantments.

I am struggling to find an add-on that can do this without totally altering the vanilla-ish mechanics of villagers/enchantments. I tried the "Villager ++ Add on" - not at all what I was looking for.

Any ideas?

Hi boating community,

New boater here. Will start by saying I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, but I have a vision, and I want to make it happen.

I plan on buying this boat, with this outboard motor, with this external fuel tank. I plan to launch this off the beach, for use in the Peconic Bay on Long Island. I want to be able to fish and to make the roughly 10 mile trip to Greenport.

My questions to the community:

Is this a feasible setup? Roughly what sort of range and top speed am I looking at? Anything else I'm missing (lifejacket, paddle, etc.)? Is the tank compatible with the engine? Do I need a license or registration of any sort? Any other glaringly obvious things I need to think about?
