Get a manual licence if you're capable.

As the title says, get the manual licence.

This absolutely isnt for everyone - but it will be for some of you.

I'm a disabled driver, so I chose to get the auto licence when I started driving at 16 to allow me to be able to have more freedom and reach appointments I needed to quicker. I am now 23. I have a full manual motorcycle licence, and am looking to upgrade my car to a manual for a variety of reasons.

Booking a test is seemingly impossible.

I am restricted to the test phone line booking hours only as I dont have a valid theory test certificate. I am now not permitted to have my designated appointee to handle these phone calls for me with recent rule changes (Im glad you guys dont have to deal with test scalpers). This is disability discrimination.

If I fail my test, I may not be able to get another test. End of. Not "any time soon". Not at all.

Im driving around in a Reliant Rialto just to ensure thay after several years of real world experience, I have to act like a learner at junctions. An 850cc engine and 3 wheels makes gaps seems *very small*. Thank god for the motorcycle licence covering them as tricycles.

Please, if you are able to handle a manual and have even the slightest thought that you may want to at some point deal with a manual vehicle or work as a driver - do that test. It'll save you heaps of annoyance.

And if you still choose to do the automatic test instead?

Good for you. I'm glad youve spent the time to consider your options! Having the knowledge of the situation at the very least will always be a benefit in the long term.
