A Couple Weeks into Finding the Best Scents!...For Me!
Hey guys and gals!
First off, you are still not forgiven for getting me into this crazy hobby!
Here are my thoughts so far on what I have sampled! Apologies in advance for not having the words yet to properly explain scents!
My system pictured above is new samples go into the blue open container, tan covered box is ones I will not be buying. Blue covered box is ones I like but need more mileage to see if it really excites me or has the lasting power Im looking for. Wood box is keepers that will probably turn into larger bottles.
What I know. I like floral and generally a big fan of rose. Many of my preferred scents are on the softer side for men. Not into the super heavy manly scents. I enjoy Middle Eastern scents as well.
My end goal is not to own everything but rather have a collection I really enjoying being smelly with!
Amouage
Jubilation XXV for Man - Maybe - Nice floral scent. I can appreciate it and see why many people like it. But it does not really jump out at me.
Arabian Oud
Kashmir Musk - Highly Likely - Nive floral feel with an edge of middle eatern-ness. Was one of the first I got and a fav till more came in. Will need to reevaluate.
Madawi - No - To feminine for me and my wife instantly stole the bottle so.............
Ibrahim Al-Qurashi - Just got this in the mail!
Blueberry Musk - Like - Very blueberry with a nice musk base. Potentially a bit on the sweet side for me. Wearing it now and going to see how it lasts and if the sweetness ends up seeming to much for me.
SUMMER RIVERA SUNSET - BUY - If only because my wife loves the scent. I like it too. Feels very summer and fresh, perfect for a beach. Nice citrus and mint with a good amount of spice under it. Great base layers as well.
Omanluxury - One of the first sets of samples I received. The downside being they have amazing staying power that not all the other brands have.
ANGHAM - No - Great scent just not for me. Feels like Im in a high end cigar shop doing rich man stuff!
BELFIORE - Maybe - Great floral scent that I liked but yet was maybe missing something special, not sure yet.
DEJAN - OMG No - Felt like I was wearing a whiskey. Not a bad scent, just REALLY NOT me.
FLOWERLUSH - WOW YES - Maybe the only time in my life I put on a cologne and was in heaven and could not stop snigging myself. Already bought a full bottle. Amazing floral and rose with this great spicey base that carried through and lasted all damn day! Wife was ok with it and brother in law said it was way to floral to him. They are fools and dont understand the good stuff!
MARIYA - No - Clean and floral but felt one note to me and didnt seem to evolve or grow.
ROYAL INCENSE - No - I actually like it and thought it had a nice mix of floral and incense with a bit of spice in there. My wife did not like it at all and it didnt blow me away enough to get it just for myself.
WANDERLUST - Maybe....- Nice bit of floral but I felt like I kept picking up soap though after about an hour the soap chilled out and the florals and woods came out which was a nice balance.
ZAFAR - NO - All my notes say is neutral sweetness. Nothing really shined to me.
Parfums De Marly
Percival - YES - Initially was something I see why everyone likes but maybe not for me. Very clean and well balanced. As I wore it it developed out and my wife loved it so happy wife happy life!
Pineward
BROKILÄN - NO - I get why people would appreciate this scent and I enjoyed the deep woody notes, but at the end of the day it was to close to a cleaning product for me.
Tiziana Terenzi
Abbrivio - No - I feel like what's in the scent notes did not seem to be close to what I smelled. Seemed super soft and feminine with very floral notes, not much citrus or seaweed. As it dried it became a bit more manly per se, but still a bit soft for me. Also not sure it had the staying power for me.
Xerjoff
Casamorati Fiero - Maybe leaning towards yes - This is interesting because its not a scent I would usually lean towards. It started super green, like I was sitting in a summer field. Was not thrilled with it at first. After a little bit the lemongrass pushed through and the mint came out and I really enjoyed it as a green leaning option for me.
Zoologist Perfumes
Elephant Sanctuary Edition - Maybe - Very interesting scent. Felt rose and tea forward to me. Interesting base behind it. Seemed on the sweet side for me and not sure how well it lasted. Will need more mileage to decide.
