It's been over 25 years since I graduated from Kgp. I'm not active on Reddit except for signing up, but recently my mailbox started showing posts from r/iitkgp and I was keen to engage.
It saddens me to read about the current state at Kgp, and even more to know that I can do little about it right away. I could attempt to write some words of assurance, perhaps.
Kgp is and has been, because of the community. Each of you make a positive difference. You owe it to keep the community vibrant and positive.
In my Kgp days, before Kgp, and the 25 years since, I've seen myself and people around seeing existential questions in life. They are rarely or never existential. You keep learning and growing, and this is the natural course of things.
I was always at the bottom of my department (btech mech engg). I have found a job in campus, took it, found my way to grad school, changed jobs several times; and by many standards, done well. You will find a job, change jobs, find your parter (if you want to), have kids (if you want to), see your batchmates grow up with you. You'll see your kids grow, find their own crises, and you'll be the one teaching them to be resilient.
Keep learning and growing.
