After the Separation Decision on “The Golden Girls”

Sophia and Max were married for a very short time by likely only a few weeks, so they separate for their marriage like it never happened, not divorce especially having their last dance together at the end of that part 2 episode and a fan speculation of what is not shown would be likely those two having a walk on that beach and sleeping together at her house one last time that night. So here’s a fan-speculation tale:

Sophia and Max's marriage was always more of a stubborn one than a marriage. A few weeks, a few good zingers and a realization that love doesn't always mean you should live together.
After that final dance at the end of Part 2, they don’t hurry. The music is still playing, but they had start walking off.
They take the long way on the beach down on the sand and hold hands. No big speeches. Sophia being herself complains about the sand getting everywhere, and Max laughs and says that was her problem, she always has wanted to bring the beach home with her.
They talk about Sicily, about the years before and about how strange it is to get a second chance to say goodbye properly, not in anger at all.
By the time they get to her house, Dorothy, Blanche and Rose have already gone to bed.
Sophia unlocks the front door as quietly as she can. Max whispers, "Should I...?"
And Sophia, for once not making a joke, just says, "Stay. Just tonight."
Not because they want to rewind the marriage. But because they want to end it the right way.
They go to her bedroom, sit on the edge of her bed, talk a little longer and hold hands the way people do when they know every spot and wrinkle. There is a lot of history in that room and no need to perform it.
They spend that last night together not as a married couple, but as two people who have loved each other but wasn’t for long and finally get to be tender about it. One last night of closeness of being in the same bed and listening to each other breathe while sleeping.
The kitchen is bright and Blanche comes in first in her robe, ready to be scandalous, then stops dead because Max is at the table in yesterday's clothes with Sophia, drinking coffee out of Rose's favorite mug with the little strawberries on it.
Then Dorothy comes in. Then Rose.
No one says anything for a good ten seconds. Sophia looks at Max.
She is the one to bring a conversation up.
"Sit," she says.
So they sit. Dorothy pours herself coffee like she's preparing for bad news.
Max clears his throat. He's a showman, but not this morning. "Your mother and I talked," he says to Dorothy. "Long talk."
Sophia picks it up. "We decided no more pizza kitchen. No more Max and Sophia working there after that big fire."
Rose looks confused, "But... you just got married?"
"We were married," Sophia says, sharp but not unkind. "For three weeks. Which in human years feels like it’s about twenty years of the kind of fighting we do."
Max smiles at that. "She's right. We love each other. We always did. But we don't belong in the same kitchen anymore. Literally and... you know."
He looks down at his hands. "My grandson in New York. I haven't seen him since he was this big." He holds his hand about two feet off the floor. "My family is there. It's time I go home."
Dorothy understands instantly. That's what gets her. "Ma?"
Sophia waves it off before Dorothy can make it a big Dorothy Speech. "Don't. It's good. It's what we want. We had our dance, we had our walk, we had our talk. Now he goes to New York, I stay here with you girls and torment you until one of us dies. Which, knowing you, will be me."
She says it like a joke but her eyes are wet.
After breakfast — Rose's eggs, which Max says are surprisingly good — it's time.
Max’s luggage is already by the front door.
Goodbye in that house is never quiet.
Dorothy hugs him like he is her stepfather which didn’t even last long. Rose hugs him like he's leaving forever and he is, making her cry. Blanche shakes his hand and then hugs him anyway because she's herself.
Sophia walks him out the door. No long scene.
Outside, he kisses her on the forehead. Not romantic. Familiar. The kind you give someone you've known since you were both kids stealing figs.
Max: "Take care of yourself, darling."
Sophia: "You too, you old crook. Don't get lost."
Max: "I won't."
He goes off and doesn't look back. Sophia knows that about him.
She stands there until the taxi arrives.
After that, she goes back inside, closes the door, goes in the kitchen and says, "Alright, who left their dishes in the sink?"
And that's how she and Max have left it. Not divorced with papers and shouting. Just... separate ways. With the last dance still counting for the marriage having gotten annulled.

That Leg Injury Recovery

Jett has been told to have retirement from her roarball athletic career (parody of basketball) due to plenty of concerns on her aging. Also, her left leg injury with severe pain has made her not feel her legs but not really make her paralyzed luckily during and after that final dangerous game since she is severely limping for her to be in a wheelchair as well for her not to be paralyzed for the rest of her life but that wheelchair part may only be implied by you fans including me for that big concern you know which it can't only be a crutch and that isn’t enough help since she is shown like that also at that major championship celebration back in Vineland because that would be too exhausting by then and still difficult to try to stand and walk carefully no matter how long that healing phase would take for her not to be so selfish to how her attitude has been like for vulnerability for her to later finally be able to walk and run normally on her feet again. That doesn’t even sound too dark at all being offscreen.

That Pet Cat’s Disappearance

For the fate of that orange tabby pet cat, Kitty who was sadly left behind, I say this is my fan speculation about him for how that second film ends that I really can’t help myself with for that photo containing imagined dialogue you fans may look up first:

So after you have read that fanon transcript, it’s that this would only be for while the Bad Guys and Diane remain hidden in ISGLOP for a while due to that fake funeral Commissioner Luggins had planned for that public riot to be so avoided. Also, we know surviving out in society is how it goes in life since that pet is not seen hiding in the storage room, too where the coffins and urns are at of that church where that fake funeral takes place and in the next and final scene, he is not seen in ISGLOP either when those believed to be deceased six are dressed like Men in Black and are ready for their first secret mission which that pet is not anthropomorphic, not getting to speak like a normal person. There aren’t any other pets in ISGLOP as well and he would be pretty unsafe with what that secret headquarters has of dangerous things for the biggest risks of higher-stakes, being those secret challenging missions. He would even be so bored to miss out on living life normally.

That’s why all of that imagined dialogue shows what may be going on with that pet to be taken care of that way and he would still be loved, cared about, must be safe and enjoy being outside. When no longer having to hide, Wolf and Diane will definitely have that pet back, being so close to him again and could even be friends with that other cop and the other cats along with their other known friends especially for Kitty to enjoy those play dates, so who knows for what the future shows about that pet.

For the fate of that pet cat, Kitty who was sadly left behind, I say this is my fan speculation about him for how that second film ends that I really can’t help myself with for this imagined dialogue:

The Bad Guys and Diane are hiding out at the ISGLOP (International Secret Good-Guy League of Operations) headquarters after having already done their first secret mission. They see more news of their own "memorial" and the upcoming evictions of that old lair and Diane's house.

Wolf: "Commissioner... I know we're dead to the world, and that's the job.

But there's a little one back at the lair who doesn't know why we haven't come home. He's just a cat, Luggins, is innocent, and his name is Kitty."

Snake: "I'm only saying this because the furball needs a real place, not a cold shelter."

Webs: "The movers arrive before afternoon tomorrow. If Kitty is still there when the locks change..."

Shark: (Tearing up) "He'll think we abandoned him! We can't let him think he's a Bad Guy, too!"

Piranha: "Give him to someone good, Commissioner. Someone who likes... you know... cats so much."

Commissioner Luggins: (Sighing, looking at the photo of the cat)

"Normally, I don't do favors for 'ghosts.' But... I know another cop from the Police Station. That person's got three other cats already and has a soft spot for strays with attitude. I'll make sure that cat gets to that person and he'll be safe."

Commissioner Luggins arrives at the Bad Guys' old lair just before the mandated eviction to carry out one final, quiet duty for the group she spent years chasing (except Diane, whom she had not been chasing due to Diane having been recently exposed as that past Crimson Paw criminal). Approaching Kitty, Commissioner Luggins realizes that since the public believes that gang and Diane have died, this one "family member" is the only living witness.

Commissioner Luggins: "Listen, little guy, I know you're waiting for that big, happy Wolf to walk through that door with a bag of snacks. But he, his roommates, and Diane aren't returning, they're gone. The world even me believes they're heroes now. People are taking all this junk to a museum, but they can't put you in a glass case. I have thought of someone who is another cop from the Police Station - that person's got a house with a big yard and three other cats who won't mind you being a new brother. That person's tough even about those Bad Guys and Diane who are actually good at heart before having sadly died. And I don't break my word to the law or to friends. Let's get you a new home."

When Commissioner Luggins arrives at the Police Station to one of the other cops...

Commissioner Luggins: "Alright, listen up. I just came from the old lair - people are clearing everything out and the house where Diane used to live for the museum. I found this little guy hiding under a pile of Wolf's old jazz records. The world even us know his family and Diane are gone already, but I'm not letting him end up in a cold shelter."

Another Officer: "Is that... the 'Hero Cat' from the meteorite heist?"

Commissioner Luggins: "It's the only part of them that isn't a memory or a statue at all. He needs a home where he won't be treated like a 'Bad Guy'-somewhere with a warm bed and maybe fresh tuna he seems to like. You've got those other cats at your place, right?"

Another Officer: "I do, Commissioner, so he'll be safe with me."

Commissioner Luggins: "Good because I promised myself that l'd see him settled. Take care of him. He's been through a lot."

Another Officer: "But I'm still on the clock for now. Put him in one of the empty holding cells. He'll be safe there with like a bowl of water, a cushion and a catnip toy until I'm finished working today and take him home for good."

After that, Commissioner Luggins whispers a final goodbye to the only witness of the Bad Guys and Dianes' true hearts. As she walks away, she sees the precinct TVs flashing news of more public mourning about those known six, knowing that while their old lives are "erased," Kitty's new life is just beginning.

When Commissioner Luggins returns to the ISGLOP (International Super-Galactic League of Protectors) headquarters, she is met with the anxious faces of the "deceased" team. Having successfully placed Kitty in a temporary safe cell with a trusted officer, she provides the closure they desperately needed.

The reaction from the group is a mix of profound relief and the somber realization that their old lives are truly behind them:

Wolf: He lets out a long, shaky breath, his tail finally stopping its nervous twitch. "Thanks, Commissioner. I know it's... weird, doing us a favor like this. But knowing he's not alone in that empty lair anymore, it means everything."

Snake: Despite his tough exterior, Snake gives a single, sharp nod of approval. "Good, that cat's got a new crew now. Better than sitting in a museum crate."

Diane: She places a supportive hand on Wolf's shoulder, her own eyes reflecting the weight of seeing her Crimson Paw legacy and home being packed away for public display. "You did the right thing, Misty. He's the only part of our 'past' that actually matters."

Shark: "He's gonna be a happy cat, having that company now!" And he dabs at his eyes with a massive handkerchief.

Piranha: "He's gonna be feeling like a hero cat!" And he does a happy celebratory flip.

Webs: She quickly taps away at her holographic ISGLOP terminal, pulling up a hidden feed of the precinct. "Nice to know, Commissioner Luggins that that cat gets to be taken home when that other cop's shift is over."

Commissioner Luggins watches them, her expression stern but her eyes softening. "Don't get used to it. The world thinks you're legends now-and legends don't have pets or unpaid rent. Your 'ghost' status as secret agents is what keeps this city safe."

When the long shift finally ends at the Police Station, that officer heads back to the holding area where Kitty has been waiting patiently. That cat perks up and lets out a happy meow as the cell door opens. The officer picks up the small cat and those things that made that cat not feel too bored. Kitty, recognizing the kindness in the officer's touch, nuzzles against that person, happy to finally be out of the precinct. As they head out of the station, they pass the memorial photos of the "late" Bad Guys and Diane. While the public believes his original family and Diane are gone, he is blissfully unaware that they are watching his safe departure through a hacked security feed at ISGLOP headquarters.

When Kitty is at that officer's new house with a big yard, away from the about-to-be-evicted lair and Diane's house, he is introduced to his new cat siblings and finally has a steady, safe place to live, no longer feeling so alone.

So this would only be for while the Bad Guys and Diane remain hidden in ISGLOP for a while due to that fake funeral Commissioner Luggins had planned for that public riot to be so avoided and for that pet to still live normally in actual life. When no longer having to hide, Wolf and Diane will definitely have that pet back, being so close to him again and could even be friends with that other cop and the other cats along with their other known friends especially for Kitty to enjoy those playdates, so ya never know.
