Six final rounds, no offers yet — how do I approach a conversational final interview tomorrow?

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to ask for some advice. I’ve been searching for an internship since August and have been in a final round a total of 6 times (3 data science, 1 fde, 1 swe and 1 ai engineer type role), my latest rejection came in today and my next final round interview happens to be tomorrow.

I’d really appreciate any advice facing tomorrow’s 30 min conversation, I already passed the initial screen, speaking with a hiring manager, technical round with 2 people, and now I speak with a company leader that is in charge of the internship.

The recruiter described it as a straightforward, more of a conversational interview to gauge my interest and enthusiasm in AI/LLMs, how I think about applying them in the real world, and general interest in the company. Also speak a bit on my past experiences with AI, hands on work and have a point of view on hype and where AI is actually useful, so more of a fit type conversation.

Any advice on how to present myself would be immensely appreciated, given that I don’t really know the reasons I’ve gotten rejected in the past I can’t really measure what has been going wrong for me. I don’t know how enthusiastic or friendly I should be, I feel like they are small details that could maybe change the interviewers perspective. Also how should I prepare, sometimes I’ll look into very specific things from a company to understand how it works but don’t know if it’s the right move to mention them. On the AI side I have my opinion pretty much set, I’ve done some projects so I have no problem talking about them, and presenting them in a non-technical way. So basically, how do I balance being enthusiastic without sounding rehearsed or desperate?

Any other advice or something I might be missing or might be useful I’d very much appreciate. Thank you!
