Fluid intake

I had my total colectomy surgery in January 2026, and since the operation I’ve been placed on strict fluid restrictions. I am currently allowed only 1 liter of E-mix solution (sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, and glucose) along with 1 additional liter of water or other fluids per day.

I’ve been finding this adjustment very challenging, especially because I constantly feel thirsty. I’m also a big coffee lover, so trying to avoid coffee has been difficult. On top of that, I work out regularly, which naturally makes me want to drink more water throughout the day.

I’m doing my best to follow the restrictions, but I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through a similar experience. What helped you manage thirst and avoid drinking excessive fluids? Any tips or strategies would be greatly appreciated.
