We need to normalize giving to children first

I wasn't going to post about this but the ongoing scalpers situation and the Pokemon frenzy, I feel like I need to.

For some context, a few years ago, when I was a kid, I got into Pokemon, but I could never get Pokemon cards/merch because when I went to buy it or my parents when to buy it everything was already sold out. There was a time where I was in a game store and I grabbed the last pack of Pokemon cards, it was going to be my first pack of cards, but an adult person (I don't remember much because it was that long ago) took the last card pack off my hands, paid for it and walked away, I cried a lot because that was going to be ,my pack of cards. But, another person, gave me a still sealed off pack of Magic The gathering cards that they had already paid for, and explained me the concept of Magic to me, a child, I remember being so amazed by the creatures that i stopped crying. If that wasn't enough, that person gave me half off their Magic deck.

At the time I didn't understood much of what had happened and just thought that a very cool person had made my day, but now, I understand why. It's because most TCG's are made for children, especially Pokemon, and with all the adults and grown ups loving the games too it kinds makes it difficult for children and younger ones to have access to the cards and merch, and especially with the ongoing scalpers situation it's getting harder and harder for children to have access to the things, so we should normalize giving to children first. These are things made for them, they are the future, so, as adults we should always give these things to them first, it doesn't matter if it's the last one on the shelf, it doesn't matter if we've wanted it for so long, the children are more important because our actions will impact whether they'll keep enjoying Pokemon or stop liking it. So please, if there are kids who want to have Pokemon cards or merch, let them, because it will make their day, and they'll grow up to do the same thing.

How do I know they'll get happy? well, a few weeks ago I went to get a Pokemon thing for my little brother who really loves Pokemon (I don't enjoy it that much because scalpers and the grown ups had ruined it for me so i don't know much about it), continuing, I went to a game store and got myself the thing my brother really wanted, it was expensive and it was the last one and there was this little boy who was also going for it. I gave it to him but his mother said they couldn't afford it because it was expensive. So I went and paid for it and then gave it to the little boy, the smile on his face made my day, the mother thanked me and I left the store empty handed, but to me, that didn't matter, because I felt like I had helped keep the love for Pokemon alive. I now understand why the person who had made me love Magic had done what they did, and I hope more people do the same. Games like Pokemon are made for kids, we as adults can enjoy playing them and collect it but we should prioritize giving it to children first.

That was all I wanted to say, I hope more people do the same because the children are the future.
