Hey guys is there a way I can leave mid contract

My dad is sick back at home and he seriously needs my presence since I guess hes fighting his last breath (stage 4 cancer)

My boss tells me I need to pay him 500R if I want to leave before finishing the 2 year contract since I have worked for only 1 year.

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated on how to do
