I Was Never More Excited About Freebies More Than My Purchase, Pt2

Again, grabbing some new gear as I get ready to pop some pre-2010 gassy, fuel-heavy, rotten DANK. NASC was/is new to me since I haven't bought any seeds since 2012. Crazy I know. But I kept seeing good reviews, so I decided to support this outstanding women-owned small business. Seed banks have always gave freebies, and I never gave them a 2nd thought as I gave them away. So I picked my 2nd round of Dirty Bird Genetics freebies. Yet, it wasn't until AFTER I got this 2nd delivery that I looked into who they are. OH SNAP! NASC/DBG has crazy 🔥!! Fire I need to grab a couple more of....

I Was Never More Excited About Freebies More Than My Purchase, Pt1

Decided to start growing again and get some current 🔥, since I have plenty of pre-2010 gas and fruits but nothing "new". I literally have not bought a pack of anything since 2012. Yep. 2012! What I didn't expect was so much freebies with the purchase. So I did zero due diligence on Dirty Bird Genetics and just selected cultivars as I felt led to based on "instincts".

Flo Grow's: Tropix F1 Fem Auto x 2

I got 4 freebies (outstanding @ $10/seed) and a boat load of others for making a large $600 purchase, and decided to pop 2 to beat the last minute Zone 6a/6b winter frost in mid to late October. It is a proud high-yielding, commercial-grade, S-Tier cultivar in a feminized autoflower format that averages 3 - 4 feet in height (indoor vs outdoor) and averages 5 - 9 ounces, dried and cured PER PLANT. With that being said, I'll be pushing these babies a little hard. I want to see how they respond to my hot, dry desert heat of triple digit averages. I'm hoping they stand firm and give off increased Trichome production than normal as a natural UV protection response. Either way, I expect great things from them both.

TODAY IS DAY ONE - 08.02.2026. I did an 18hr soak in RO water inside a shotglass that sat on a dark, warm 79F shelf. From there they went in between plain white paper towels dampened with RO water, that sat inside a covered Tupperware container for another 24hrs (16hrs would had been perfect but my Rapid Rooter delivery was late).

At 430p, 08.01.2026, I presoaked the Rooter plugs in RO water and Botanicare's CalMag Plus ph'd to 6.2 with 224 PPM, then safely and precisely tucked the seeds inside the Rooter plugs, tap roots down, with curved silicon tipped twizzers, tore a small piece of plug off the bottom and lightly laid it over the hole where the seeds were planted, then sat the plugs inside 2-inch Jiffy Pots and surround them with a 75/25 blend of Premier Sphagnum Peat Moss and large, horticulture size perlite.

After safely being planted into their Rooter plugs and Jiffy Pots, they were put inside the same Tupperware container, covered with the lid 90%, and sat in a warm 79F lanai, where 2 large ceiling fans spin on high 24/7.

By 6am this morning, 08.02.2026, both seedlings had breached the surface. I lightly misted them with the same RO + CalMag Plus (ph now 6.4) and the inside of the container and covered them 75% with the lid.

At 11am, I took them outside under the allday shade of the porch. Outside temps were 90F. I sat them, uncovered on a sturdy table, put 2 medium-sized river rocks inside the container for wind resistance, and pour the RO + CalMag Plus inside the container, about 1/4 inch high. They sat there all day, undisturbed with a high of 99F and 10% humidity (West Colorado high desert), as the Jiffy Pots wicked all the nutrient solution by 7pm and stayed perfectly damp.

At 7pm they were taken inside, and placed in a completely dark cabinet @ 76F and 46% humidity.

Since they're responding well to the outside shade and heat, I will continue this hardening-off process for no more than 2 weeks, unless their roots breach the Jiffy Pots before then. At that point the Jiffy's will be transplanted (after 1 TSP of Mycorrhizae powder sprinkled under the roots) directly into tan, 3gal grow bags with a white protective polyurethane sidewall liner for maintaining moisture and preventing fast drying of the medium. It will also help keep the medium cooler from all day direct sun exposure. Since we have over a month left of 90F+ heat, and these bags will be in direct sunlight for 10+ hours a day, I will also be wrapping R-rated double-sided reflective bubble wrap around the side walls, not the top or bottom, of the grow bags to further protect the root zones.

The soil mix that's safely warming up is:

4 parts Premier Sphagnum Peat Moss

3 part large, horticulture perlite

2 parts organic compost

1 part organic worm castings

2 TBSP Dolomite Lime (buffers acidic Peat moss)

1 TBSP Kelp Meal

1 TBSP Alfalfa Meal

1 TBSP Azomite

This was thoroughly mixed on a tarp them wrapped up and left outside all day in an all-day shaded location. It gets opened, spread out, and mixed once a day with a quick spray of water if needed. The consistency should be like a sponge when you squeeze a handful. NOT muddy or watery. Just damp enough. Again, like a wet sponge, but not dripping. You don't want it to dry out or you defeat the purpose of having a health medium of healthy, beneficial microbes.

This soil mix will last 3 - 4 weeks, just as bloom is kicking in. At that point they will be hand-fed Jack's 3-2-1 powder nutrient blend, ph'd in RO water, until harvest. No flushing.

This grow is also on OG, with the exact same title:

One last thing, NO ONE gives as many fire freebie cultivars as North Atlantic Seed Co!! Your pick of regular or feminized. I made two $250 plus purchases in the same week. Each one qualified for a mad amount of freebies that I picked. I'm talking Rare Dankness, Dirty Bird Genetics, Ethos, Bros Grimm, etc. I got about 2 dozen Cornbread Reg, over a dozen Black Mimosa Reg, 4 Tropix F1 AF, 4 Dark Ghost Train FP, 2 Grape OX Reg, 24 Ice Cream Skunk Reg, 9 Luxar's Cake FP, 2 - 5pks of Gas Light Reg by Sin City Seeds, and more. DO NOT SLEEP! Trust me! And no, I am not sponsored nor affiliated with NASC. These were actually my first 2 purchases with them. EVER.

Yet, NASC....get with me! lol

Hope you all enjoy the grow!✌🏽
