Fried Chicken update

Awhile back I was in search of great fried chicken and you all gave some sound advice.

Magnolia Southern Chicken just opened up on 24th and Woodlawn. Fried chicken was SPOT ON!!

You get a breast, thigh, and leg. Choose between jalapeño pepper or creole gravy. Also comes with a side of coleslaw and spicy (hot) bread and butter pickles.

They have been a breakfast and lunch spot but opened last night for supper. The chef is the owner and he also owns Napoli Italian.

They also have shrimp & grits and a thick porkchop that are popular.

COX - Don’t let the door hit you!

Spectrum just bought Cox.

My family has Spectrum for home and mobile and has had a good experience.

I hope they improve Cox because I’m so tired of having no other choice.

Fingers crossed Spectrum improves the Wichita area.

Why do people have to ruin it?

I get it.

I love celebrating the fourth.

But WHY are we setting of mortars at 12:30 on Sunday night?!

Have some respect!

A New Low

Two new commercials have come out that just blow my mind of how low the GOP will go.

One is by Doug McIntosh who has ran different PACs (Club for Growth) and spent millions running smear ads. His current one is against Vicky Schmidt for voting to allow non-citizen students who attend and graduate from Kansas high schools to get in-state tuition. The photos used (brown men covered in tattoos) and the verbiage is just disgusting.

The other is the rhetoric in Phillip Sarnecki’s latest ad. The amount of misleading comments and straight out lies is just ridiculous. Political ads should have to be truthful/fact checked.

Not sure between Trumps daily antics and the Republican governor ads if my sanity is going to make it to November.

Alabama strategy for Kansas?

A few people in Alabama filed a lawsuit against Tommy Tuberville to prove he lives in Alabama to run for Governor. I guess to run for Governor in Alabama, you have to live in the state for seven consecutive years.

The lawsuit is asking that he provide the utility bills for both his Alabama home and (you guessed it - Florida) and taxes for both states to prove where he actually lives.

So…Roger?

If Roger the Dodger doesn’t get called up to the golden gates of DC, if he gets the nomination for Kansas, I’m thinking we need to do the same….make him prove he’s eligible to run for Senate in Kansas.

Job for a Nurse

Are you or do you know a nurse who would like to be part-time and have hours that work with their kids’ schedule?

Butler is looking for a nursing tutor. Students make appointments to meet with the tutor to study for the classes in the nursing program.

The job is part-time (no weekends, evenings, or holidays).

I can answer any questions or you can go to the Butler HR site.

TAG Office

There was an article on the TAG offices and what a dumpster fire they are. There is a fee that is SUPPOSED to go to modernizing the TAG offices that in 2013 was taken away and moved to KDOT.

Guess who was governor?

Ty Masterson was interviewed and he thinks the TAG offices should be privatized. Not surprised.

Kansas tag office modernization fee diverted to KDOT since 2013 https://www.kwch.com/2026/05/27/kansas-tag-office-modernization-fee-diverted-kdot-since-2013/

Roger Stepping Up

Good ‘ol Roger the Dodger must be feeling the pressure. He has been all over the state the last week or so?

How do I know? I’ve started receiving his newsletter highlighting all of his stops taking with Kansans.

Pratt - Prairie Food
Potwin - Jump Start
Newton - Hillsboro Industries
Augusta - Freedom 250 truck
Wichita - Judge Melgren & Exploration Place

Trying to pull in those farmers he keeps screwing over.

Ironically, the last line is a link to sign up for his newsletter that I didn’t sign up for to receive this one.

Is this one of those pranks where you sign up someone you don’t like for STD and viagra flyers?!

Has anyone appealed their taxes and won?

They have raised my taxes 11% and 10% the last 2 years.

I argued that my property has not improved since 2018 and actually needs some maintenance done on it. It should not go up.

My neighbor with same floor plan and more recent updates is evaluated 20k less than me.

I was denied with the reasoning it shouldn’t be lowered for wear and tear.

They are bleeding us dry…
