When a recruiter asks ur current salary and expected salary, How to answer it?
Let say I don’t want to reveal my current compensation on the first hand. So to avoid low ball offers and also to get a better hike. How all these works in japan.
Let say I don’t want to reveal my current compensation on the first hand. So to avoid low ball offers and also to get a better hike. How all these works in japan.
Looking for some advice.
I currently work in Japan with about 3 years of software engineering experience 1.5 year in japan and 1.5 year in my home country. My current compensation is roughly ¥4.5M in total value when salary, bonus, housing support, and other benefits are included, outside tokyo and it is seishain position.
I've cleared interviews for a Tokyo-based AI engineering role, but it's a 1-year contract position and would require relocation. The company mentioned compensation is around ¥5M -5.5M but is negotiable based on experience and fit.
Considering:
Relocation to Tokyo
Higher cost of living
Loss of housing support
Contract risk
I'm thinking of asking for ¥6.5M–¥7M.
Am I being unrealistic, or is that reasonable given the contract nature of the role.
