For BCBAs and supervisors - how much of your week goes to reviewing RBT notes?

Talking to a few clinic owners lately and a pattern keeps coming up: BCBAs spending 10-15 hours a week reviewing session notes for payer compliance - missing signatures, weak medical necessity narrative, time-unit mismatches, etc.

Curious how this lands for the BCBAs and senior RBTs here:

  • Roughly how much time per week goes to note review at your clinic?
  • Are you reviewing every note or spot-checking?
  • What's the most common gap you catch?
  • And honestly — does this even fall on you, or is it on someone else?

Trying to understand the actual day-to-day reality. Cross-referencing what owners say vs what the people actually doing it say.

(For context, I'm working on something in this space with an ABA clinic owner - happy to share if anyone's curious, but mostly just trying to learn.)
