Question about a kit to buy with double bass pedals.

Hey. I started drumming pretty recently. I've always wanted to learn/teach myself to drum, and I'm probably going about it the wrong way; just listening to various songs I like and I'd like to learn and trying to play them by ear. But that's not the point.

A few months ago I bought a pretty old set from a friend for $50 to try out and see if I was just gonna give up on it or get into it. It's not bad honestly but there a several little issues that add up.

I work away 28 days at a time and due to general financial disorganization my price range goes up and down but, I'm pretty sure I could spend probably up to $1000, I'd like to spend half of that ideally but I don't really know ekit prices or quality of the kits and I don't want to get something that's shitty and just end up spending the money on a decent one anyways. I don't need crazy high end stuff but.

Also, on the set I have the snare is mesh I believe and the toms are rubber, and all of the symbols have that deal where you can grab the rim to stop the crash midway (I'm not sure what that feature is called). If possible I want to get a set that has mesh as well, and that crash-arrest thing for the symbols, and most importantly, a lot of the music I like and would like to learn how to play features drummers using a double pedal on their bass drums, and I really want to find something that can support that. I assume based on my half-minute of research before coming here instead that you could order a separate pedal that has the two pedals and two hammers but I would need a kit with a bass drum pad wide enough to take two pedals at a time, the one I have in pretty sure would be too small.

Sorry for any spelling mistakes and thanks in advance for your guys opinions/input, I started looking into it on google but I wanted to just ask some people who know better instead.
