We always hear in media that there are hundreds of thousands people laid off every year but why BLS data is not demonstrating that?
I found data for 2019-2025 years. In 2019- 2023 it has risen from 1.4mln to 1.6mln software developers and afterwards it stagnated at 1.6-1.7mln software developers.
But that doesnt make sense when every year we have 200-300k people laid off.
Can anyone explain me why people still go into Computer science? Literally everone knows how bad it is right now and people are still choosing?
I think that right now there is no human that doesnt know how cooked CS is and despite that enrollments are still so high.
Why people still choose one of the hardest college degrees that is CS? They need to put insane work to graduate with this degree with no prospects of getting job but they still do it what is the reason?
Hi Im looking for a safe degree that isnt gaining insane popularity and won't get oversaturated in future. My first thought was to go into Electrical engineering but it seems that its getting insanely popular with only this year 14% increase in enrollment.
I can only imagine how competitive it would be to land anything with so many more people graduating so it seems well too risky to go there because there might be saturation in future and we all know how easy it is to oversaturate majors when everyone goes there.
So im looking for safer options that are not gaining insane popularity and wont get oversaturated what do you think about civil engineering or nursing? Are these choices safe for future in terms of not getting saturated etc or there are better degrees right now?
