Advice needed

Hi,

I recently bought a house and was very happy to see that it had LAN sockets in every room (cat6).

Some electrical work was needed, including moving a few sockets. One of them was the LAN socket in the living room, intended for the TV. Unfortunately, I did not check all the LAN sockets before buying the house, or even before the electrical work was done.

Now I have finally had the chance to test all the sockets using a LAN cable tester, and this is what I found:

Out of 7 sockets:

  • 3 sockets are wired correctly: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 G
  • 2 sockets have no connection on pin 1: 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 G
  • Electrician work: Cable extension inside the wall, now already patched: 2 4 5 6 8 G
  • Electrician work: New plug for one socket, easy to access and replace: 4 5 8 1 2 7 6 3

My questions are:

Is it possible that the electrician did everything correctly, but the previous installation was already wired incorrectly, with some pins crossed or switched?

For the two sockets where only pin 1 has no connection, could this be something relatively simple, such as rewiring or re-terminating both ends of the cable? Or does a missing pin 1 usually indicate a damaged/broken wire somewhere in the wall?

I am not sure what to do now. The electrician said he will come back with new plugs and sockets, but I know there is a practical limit to fixing this inside the wall, because each rewiring requires cutting the cable shorter.

To be honest, I do not fully trust the work, especially because after finishing he said, “It might be a little bit slower than before,” where after checking by me it's clearly completely done in incorrect way.

Could you please advise what might be happening here and what the best next step would be?
