Can you help me? What should I do it would be good for me.
hey guys I gave GATE in my 3rd year and got a good rank. I believe next year I can make it under AIR 100. But as you all know, these things don’t stay hidden for long, so the news spread and my college mates got to know about it, and eventually the faculty too.
i am from a government college in my state. The semester fee is only ₹19,000, and most of the faculty have done M.Tech they hate the college somuch you can't even imagine like if you think a student hate the college on average i can say multiply it by 5x that much they hate the college, while only a few have done PhD you can literally count them in the whole college.
After that, they started advising me that I should focus on placements or prepare for exams like UPSC or SSC CGL since my math is good. They were saying things like by doing M.Tech, eventually I would have to do a PhD, otherwise I would end up as faculty in some college, and that you don’t really get product based company jobs after M.Tech.
But I’ve personally followed IIT placements, so a lot of what they were saying didn’t really make sense to me.
I honestly don’t know why they are so anti m.tech. I don’t know.
Although I don't take their advice seriously cause they never really helped me in anything but suddenly started acting very close after I got a good GATE rank.
I won't change my decision but I would like to know your thoughts ?
