Hotspot infection 10 days after spay?? Thermal blankets? Bug bite?? Vet can’t figure it out
UPDAte!!!!!!!!! we just got Mya back and Thad told us they were just gonna clean her wound and debridement. We just picked her up and they completely opened up both wounds and showed them together and did a major surgery without asking us. We picked her up and they sent us home with antibiotics and anxiety meds. She will not stop whining and freaking out they even told us it’s 50-50 if she lives… like what fuck is going on why are we taking hwr home?!?! I feel like she should be kept for observation. And our follow up isn’t until next Monday. And the culture they took today doesn’t come back till next week. I feel like my baby girl is not getting the proper care I can’t stop crying cause she won’t sit still or lay down I have been home for 2 hours trying to console her but she is clearly in pain. I don’t know what to do I’m a disabled veteran I don’t have enough money to take her to a specialist. Please someone have and experiences to help with this…
I have an Australian Shepherd puppy who’s about seven months old we took her to get spayed about 10 days ago. then she went for a check up 7 days after the procedure and the vet everything was fine. Three days ago I noticed she started trying to scratching at her back. She has had the cone on pretty much the whole time so she can’t get to it so I didn’t think much of it cause she has had her cone on trying to scratch regardless. So the next morning I wake up and noticed she got her cone off at some Point in the early morning before I woke up and noticed. she had been scratching her back I could tell and when I got close and seen a small what looked to be hotspot. So I called the vet and they told me just monitor her. I wake up the next morning and she’s having a panic attack trying to scratch her back and it’s covered in white Puss in blood and realized it was much much bigger than what I thought or could see So I rushed her to the emergency room at the animal hospital after a long day of waiting we get her back and this is what she looks like. The doctor said it may be a hotspot from the blankets they use to keep them warm while there under anesthesia but then they also said it may be from a bug bite or something else. I’ve never seen a wound this bad before and I’m scared that I’m gonna my puppy’s gonna die cause they can’t figure out what’s wrong with her? They gave her a bunch of meds, but she but she is still clearly in a lot of pain and won’t stop whining. I even called the hospital back and told them that and they just said they just monitor. Her next check up is Thursday but I have never in my life seen anything of this nature has anyone else? Anyone who has experienced this would help or anything to put me at ease. She hasn’t gotten wet since spayed or been outside hardly. She has a few times and I’m in Florida so I’m not sure if she got bit by something in my yard or if it’s a hotspot from the thermal blankets. The vet mentioned it may be that but then backpedal.
